The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) today shared a summary of critical findings from the audit for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2023, with the Parliament, Office of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Finance, and Office of the Accountant General.

Committed to fostering accountability and transparency in Somalia’s financial management system, the OAG aims to address compliance challenges faced by government institutions to enhance their performance and governance standards.

Auditor General Avv. Ahmed Isse Gutale expressed gratitude to these offices and government institutions for their significant contributions to the audit process.

In line with its primary goal, on June 30, 2024, the OAG officially submitted two full reports to the two Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia. These reports, namely the FGS Financial Audit Report and the Compliance Audit Report, cover the financial year ending December 31, 2023.

In accordance with Article 114 of the Provisional Constitution of Somalia and the Public Financial Management Act, these reports will be published and made available to the public within one month. This step is a significant move towards transparency, providing citizens with insights into the financial and compliance status of the government.

The OAG remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the highest standards of public sector auditing to support the development and integrity of Somalia’s financial systems.
