Mogadishu, June 30, 2024 – In line with the implementation of the first goal of the Office of the Auditor General (OAG), the Auditor General has today submitted two significant reports to the two Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia. The reports, namely the FGS Financial Audit Report and the Compliance Audit Report, cover the financial year ending December 31, 2023.
These audits have been conducted in accordance with the International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAIs). The primary objective of these audits is to improve the service delivery processes of government institutions and to enhance the trust of citizens and the international community in the overall financial management of Somalia.
The Auditor General emphasized that these efforts aim to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of public resources, thereby fostering better governance and public confidence in government operations.
In accordance with Article 114 of the Provisional Constitution of Somalia and the Public Financial Management Act, these reports will be published and made available to the public within one month. This step ensures transparency and provides citizens with insights into the financial and compliance status of the government.
