Office of the Auditor General of Somalia held a hybrid meeting with the Offices of the Auditor Generals of the Federal Member States

As part of the Annual Stakeholder Engagements, the Office of the Auditor General of Somalia (OAGS) held a hybrid meeting with the Offices of the Auditor Generals of the Federal Member States (FMS-OAGs) to deepen mutual collaboration and support on areas of capacity building, audit exercise, and knowledge sharing.
The meeting included high-level discussions on the Progress Updates from the OAGS at federal and state levels, Annual Audit Reports Issued in 2021; as well as presentations on the Roles of Effective Parliamentary Accounting Committees, Contract Registration and Procurement Procedures, and an Overview of the S-SEAT audit automation system implemented by the OAGS.
In his opening remarks, the Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Mohamud Ali, welcomed the participants and touched on several key areas involving the close collaboration between the OAGS and FMS-OAGs.
Referring to the preliminary assessment undertaken by the OAGS and the subsequent report highlighting key areas of future collaboration and support, AG Mohamed said that “Under the Extended Strategic Plan, we have laid the foundation for a new systematic approach to our relations with the FMS-OAGs.”
Moreover, a dedicated department and specific objectives under the Extended Strategic Plan 2021-2022 “continue to guide and push for new grounds of cooperation and support to your Offices in areas of capacity building and knowledge sharing.” he went on to say.
On their part, Auditor Generals from the Audit Offices of the States of Galmudug and Hirshabelle, as well as representatives from Southwest and Jubaland, also touched on the importance of closer cooperation, appreciating OAGS’s efforts in organizing this timely forum.
