Performance Audit

Home / Performance Auditing

Performance auditing is a critical pillar of our mandate at the Office of the Auditor General of Somalia. These audits go beyond financial accuracy and legal compliance — they focus on evaluating the efficiency, effectiveness, and economy with which public resources are used by government institutions.

Our performance audits involve in-depth assessments of whether government programmes and services are delivering their intended results, using resources wisely, and achieving value for money. We examine how well public entities plan, implement, and monitor their operations, as well as how outcomes align with strategic objectives and the needs of citizens.

By identifying weaknesses, inefficiencies, or gaps in service delivery, our audits help public institutions improve their performance. We provide evidence-based recommendations that support decision-making, policy improvements, and better accountability.

The ultimate goal of performance auditing is to strengthen public trust by ensuring that taxpayer money is being used in ways that genuinely benefit the Somali people — delivering real impact, not just activity. In doing so, we contribute to stronger governance, transparency, and improved public service delivery.
