Ensuring Every Dollar Reaches the Treasury: OAG Reviews Passport Revenue Controls

The Office of the Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia (OAG) convened a meeting to present the findings of an assessment reviewing the collection, recording, and transfer of passport service revenues to the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen shared understanding of the assessment findings, highlight key areas requiring improvement, and promote sustained coordination among government institutions to ensure that public revenue is managed in full compliance with applicable laws and procedures.

The meeting was officially opened by the Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Issa Gutale, and attended by the Deputy Auditor General, Mr. Abdijamal Ismail Mohamed. The Director General of Revenue at the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Feisal Mohamed Hashi, delivered remarks emphasizing the importance of safeguarding government revenue and commending the Office of the Auditor General for its oversight and follow-up role. The meeting was also attended by officials from the Immigration and Citizenship Agency.

During the meeting, participants discussed the assessment findings in detail, with a particular focus on the importance of collecting and depositing government revenue through the Treasury Single Account (TSA), in line with the Public Financial Management (PFM) law and procedures. The meeting also reviewed the risks associated with collecting revenue outside the official system and shared practical recommendations to strengthen transparency, accountability, and the protection of government revenue generated from public services.

The Office of the Auditor General extended its appreciation to all officials and participants and reaffirms its commitment to strengthening public financial management and safeguarding national resources through strong collaboration and full compliance with the legal framework.
