Johannesburg, South Africa – July 25, 2025: The Office of the Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia (OAGS) proudly celebrates the graduation of four senior officials, including the Deputy Auditor General for Audit Services, from the Postgraduate Diploma in Management Practice, a flagship leadership development programme jointly delivered by AFROSAI-E and Henley Business School Africa.

The year-long programme forms part of the Senior Leadership Development Programme (SLDP), a pioneering initiative designed to equip leaders of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) with the skills, mindset, and strategic insight needed to lead change in complex and evolving governance environments. The internationally accredited programme focuses on strengthening leadership capabilities across four critical domains:

  • Understanding the role of leadership in advancing good governance
  • Applying systems thinking to navigate complexity and institutional challenges
  • Leading organizational change and performance improvement
  • Promoting accountability through ethical conduct, transparency, and long-term vision

In his congratulatory message, Auditor General H.E. Ahmed Isse Gutale described the graduation as a significant step forward in OAGS’s institutional journey to strengthen strategic oversight, leadership excellence, and professional credibility.

This achievement reflects our commitment to building a leadership culture rooted in integrity, foresight, and service to the Somali people. It will directly contribute to stronger public financial management and better governance outcomes” said AG Gutale.

He also extended appreciation to AFROSAI-E and Henley Business School Africa for their enduring support and meaningful contribution to the professionalization and transformation of SAIs in the region.

The graduation signals a growing investment by OAGS in developing future-ready leaders who will drive reform, ensure the impact of audits, and elevate the Office’s role in shaping a transparent and accountable Somalia.
