Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, October 30, 2025: The Office of the Auditor General of Somalia (OAGS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 30 with Egypt’s Accountability State Authority on the sidelines of the 25th International Congress of Supreme Audit Institutions (XXV INCOSAI).
The agreement establishes a framework for enhanced cooperation in quality assurance, forensic auditing, and joint anti-corruption initiatives, while also promoting the exchange of technical expertise between the two Supreme Audit Institutions.
Somalia’s Auditor General H.E. Ahmed Isse Gutale described the MoU as an important step toward strengthening OAGS’s institutional capacity and expanding its partnerships across the region. He emphasized that the collaboration reflects Somalia’s commitment to advancing transparency, accountability, and good governance within the public sector.
“This MoU marks an important milestone for SAI Somalia” Gutale stated. “By joining hands with Egypt’s Accountability State Authority, we are reinforcing our commitment to transparency, accountability, and building a stronger, more resilient public oversight system” he added.
This signing marks a significant milestone for OAGS as it continues to pursue strategic alliances aimed at improving oversight functions and aligning its practices with international standards, while also demonstrating OAGS’s commitment to strengthening its international partnerships and cooperation.
