SAI Somalia Enhances Institutional Performance Through Monitoring and Evaluation

Mogadishu, Somalia, November 20, 2025: The Office of the Auditor General of Somalia (OAGS) convened a workshop on “Monitoring and Evaluation” aimed at enhancing transparency, strengthening performance oversight, and improving the quality of project implementation across the institution. The workshop was facilitated by the Advisor to the OAGS Planning and Performance Department, Abdihafid Yarow, and brought together Directors and Deputy Directors from various departments.

The Auditor General, H.E. Ahmed Isse Gutale, formally opened the workshop, accompanied by both Deputy Auditors General, underscoring the leadership’s commitment to advancing institutional effectiveness and efficiency. “Monitoring and evaluation are essential pillars of good governance. Strengthening these functions not only improves our performance but also reinforces public trust in the Office’s ability to safeguard accountability and transparency” said the Auditor General Gutale.

The workshop focused on improving the tracking of operational activities, strengthening the evaluation of outcomes, and promoting greater efficiency and accountability within the Office’s overall work processes. Participants engaged in discussions on best practices and practical approaches to reinforce OAGS’s monitoring and evaluation systems.
