Pretoria, South Africa, 20–24 October 2025: Senior officials from the Office of the Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia (OAGS) actively participated in the AFROSAI-E Regional Workshop on Communication and Stakeholder Engagement, themed “Reporting for Impact” at the AFROSAI-E Training Centre in Pretoria.

The workshop brought together Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) from across Africa to enhance their ability to transform audit and performance reports into tools that drive accountability, transparency, and positive social change.

Co-facilitated by experts from the National Audit Office of the United Kingdom, the workshop focused on equipping participants with practical skills to produce reports that inspire action and influence decision-making. Key areas of focus included strategic planning for impactful audits, effective communication of findings, engaging media and parliamentary stakeholders, writing actionable recommendations, producing accessible reports, and fostering a culture of professionalism and accountability within audit institutions.

Participants also engaged in a hands-on exercise to map audit impact across the lifecycle and develop targeted communication products, ensuring lessons learned can be directly applied within their home institutions.

OAGS’s involvement demonstrates its ongoing commitment to strengthening stakeholder collaboration, enhancing governance, and increasing the effectiveness of audit reports. Delegates returned with knowledge and tools to train staff in-house, further improving transparency and accountability across Somalia’s public institutions.
