Somalia’s Auditor General Congratulates Newly Elected AFROSAI-E Leadership

Manrovia, Liberia, 19 May, 2026: Somalia’s Auditor General, H.E. Ahmed Isse Gutale, has congratulated Kenya’s Auditor General, Nancy Gathungu, on her re-election as Chairperson of the AFROSAI-E Governing Board for the 2026–2029 term.

Mr Gutale also extended congratulations to Sierra Leone’s Auditor General, Abdul Aziz, following his election as Vice Chairperson of the AFROSAI-E Governing Board during the 22nd Governing Board Meeting and 2026 Strategic Review held in Monrovia, Liberia.

In a statement issued after the elections, the Somali Auditor General said the outcome reflected the confidence and trust member Supreme Audit Institutions place in the leadership, professionalism, and commitment of the two officials toward strengthening public sector auditing across the AFROSAI-E region.

“Their election reflects the confidence and trust placed in their leadership, professionalism, and commitment to strengthening Supreme Audit Institutions across the AFROSAI-E region” Mr Gutale said. He wished both leaders success in advancing accountability, transparency, institutional development, and cooperation among member Supreme Audit Institutions.

AFROSAI-E, the African Organisation of English-speaking Supreme Audit Institutions, works to strengthen public sector auditing, accountability, transparency, and institutional cooperation among member Supreme Audit Institutions across Africa.

The newly elected Chairperson, Nancy Gathungu, and Vice Chairperson, Abdul Aziz, are expected to lead regional efforts to strengthen cooperation among member SAIs, support institutional development, and promote effective, value-adding audits across the AFROSAI-E region.
