SAI Somalia Staff Begin Master of Audit Programme at Nanjing Audit University

Two SAI Somalia staff members, Ahmed Mohamed Ali and Abdiwahid Jama Ali, have begun Master of Audit studies at Nanjing Audit University in China through the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) Scholarship Programme.

The opportunity forms part of SAI Somalia’s Professional Development Plan, which prioritizes strengthening staff knowledge, technical competence, and professional skills in areas directly related to the Office’s audit mandate.

The programme will enhance participants’ knowledge in public sector auditing, public financial management, accountability, governance, and related areas, contributing to improved audit quality and institutional capacity.

The opportunity follows discussions held on 25 February 2026 between the Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Isse Gutale, Deputy Auditor General Mukhtar Mohamed Abukar, other SAI Somalia officials, and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Somalia, H.E. Wang Yu. The meeting explored cooperation in professional development, knowledge exchange, capacity building, and postgraduate opportunities at Nanjing Audit University.

Through initiatives such as this, SAI Somalia continues to invest in its workforce and strengthen the professional and technical capacity required to enhance audit quality, institutional performance, and public accountability.
